Kildalton Gold RID. EBV-107.93 Sire : Merrygold (Lahinch who was a son of Laughton) Lahinch was an influential stallion who sired 11 stallion sons. Laughton was by Laughtons Last, a Thoroughbred. His dam was a half bred mare by Kings Herald, a Thoroughbred. In Fells book on the Irish Draught, she states"the Laughton family line has a tremendous reputation for producing intelligent, talented and kind jumpers." Merrygold's dam was a Chilon TB mare. Dam : Kildalton Countess (Ben Purple who was a son of Mountain Heather. He in turn was a grandson of Galty Boy.) G/Dam : Enniskene Countess ( Glen Lad). In his time Kildalton Gold was regarded as the finest Irish Draught in the country. His dam Kildalton Countess was a very important mare who produced many stallion sons- Kildalton King (sire of Windgates King Koal) Diamond Lad(sire of Heather Blaze,Canadian Airlines Challenge) Diamonds Are Trumps (sire of Can Can, World Cup finalist) Glidawn Diamond (sire of Coolcorron Cool Diamond) Kildalton Gold and Kildalton Tyler. |
